After working for four years in the tax department of the national accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand in New York City, and upon receiving his Masters of Law in Taxation from New York University in 1975, Mr. Fishman joined the Fresno law firm of Baker, Manock & Jensen to head up its tax practice; he was a shareholder in that firm for over 20 years. In April 2000, Mr. Fishman formed the firm of Fishman, Larsen & Goldring. Mr. Fishman's practice emphasizes the areas of taxation, corporate and business transactions, sales and acquisitions, real estate, and estate planning. Mr. Fishman's clients are principally in the following industries: manufacturing, communications and internet services, farming, agribusiness, dairy, ranching, farm cooperatives, health care services, land development, and food services and supply. Mr. Fishman has expertise in most areas of taxation including corporate and partnership taxation, individual tax planning and tax consulting, real estate taxation, estate planning, representing taxpayers before the IRS in the audit and appeals division, and in tax fraud and evasion cases, taxation of exempt organizations and in the taxation of agricultural cooperatives. In recent years, Mr. Fishman's practice has concentrated in sale and purchases of businesses, dispute resolution, business restructuring, and advising family and other closely held businesses. He is the author of numerous articles in the tax area including those published in the Journal of Taxation and Taxes Magazine. He is a frequent speaker on tax, estate planning, and family business issues. Mr. Fishman is a member of the Fresno Estate Planning Council and serves on the Board of Directors of the Institute for Family Business. He serves as an arbitrator and Judge Pro Tem for the Fresno County Superior Court.
